India’s technology export growth is undergoing a quiet but powerful shift. Beyond large IT firms and established service providers, women entrepreneurs are increasingly shaping India’s presence in global technology markets — driving innovation, building scalable enterprises, and expanding electronics and ICT exports across geographies.

Across software, electronics manufacturing, deep-tech, and emerging digital solutions, women-led businesses are not only contributing to export numbers but also redefining India’s identity as a knowledge-driven, innovation-led economy.

Women in Technology: Influencing India’s Export Market

The growing participation of women in technology has significantly transformed India’s export landscape. Today, women entrepreneurs are leading companies with a strong focus on innovation, global expansion, funding readiness, and long-term competitiveness

A rising number of women-led startups in deep-tech, software solutions, and electronics manufacturing are contributing directly to the growth of software and ICT exports from India. Their leadership reflects a broader shift — where global ambition is being built into businesses from the outset.

This momentum is further supported by policy frameworks such as the Stand-Up India Scheme and initiatives like the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), which provide access to mentorship, networks, and financial support, strengthening women’s participation in international trade.

Beyond Silicon: Facilitating Innovation

As India’s technology ecosystem evolves, the role of enabling institutions becomes increasingly critical. Recognising the pivotal contribution of women entrepreneurs, the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) continues to create platforms that connect leadership, innovation, and global market access.

At IndiaSoft Expo, ESC hosted a dedicated Special Session titled “Women of the Future in Tech – Leading with Impact, Living with Purpose.” Marking a strong close to Day 1 of the Expo, the session brought together accomplished women leaders, technologists, and decision-makers to share perspectives on leadership, innovation, and purpose-driven growth.

More than a standalone discussion, the session reflected ESC’s broader commitment to amplifying women’s voices, encouraging leadership participation, and fostering inclusive growth within India’s technology and export ecosystem.

Innovation-Driven Women-Led Startups

Women entrepreneurs are driving the Indian startup ecosystem forward — from AI-powered SaaS platforms and digital solutions to electronics design and manufacturing. Their enterprises are supporting specialised industries, creating scalable products, and strengthening India’s competitiveness in global ICT markets.  A notable shift is the rise of women-led innovation beyond metropolitan centres. Increasingly, entrepreneurs from tier-2 and tier-3 cities are leveraging technology to access global trade opportunities, demonstrating that export-ready innovation is no longer geographically limited.

A Gender-Inclusive Export Growth Story for the Future

For India to sustain its position as a global technology leader, gender inclusion must remain central

to its export growth strategy. Encouraging women to take on leadership roles, improving access to

funding, and expanding participation in export promotion initiatives are not just measures of equity —

they are drivers of competitiveness.

With women in leadership roles, India’s software and electronics exports are poised for a more resilient

and impactful future. Their ability to combine innovation, purpose, and global outlook positions them

as catalysts for India’s next phase of export-led growth.

At ESC, this perspective continues to guide our initiatives — ensuring that platforms, policies, and

partnerships evolve in step with the leaders shaping India’s technology exports.

Conclusion

Women entrepreneurs are playing a decisive role in reshaping India’s technology export landscape through innovation, leadership, and global ambition. With continued institutional support and inclusive policies, their growing participation will strengthen India’s competitiveness and ensure a more resilient, future-ready export ecosystem.
