What is ESC EPC?

The government of India has set up several Export Promotion Councils to help exporters enhance their exports globally. ESC is one such Export Promotion Council for helping India’s electronics and computer software / ITeS exporters.

As per the foreign trade policy of India, the exporters are required to take membership of EPC as per their main line of business. The exporters are also required to submit their export turnover details to the EPC on quarterly basis in the prescribed format.

Exporters in the following sectors are required to take ESC membership:

Electronics Hardware:

  • Consumer Electronics
  • Electronics Instruments / Office Equipment / Medical Equipment / Strategic Electronics
  • Electronic Components & Sub-Assemblies
  • Computer Hardware And Peripherals
  • Telecom Equipments

Computer Software and ITeS:

  • Customised Software Development
  • Software Products
  • IT Enabled Services
  • BPO (Business Process Outsourcing)
  • LPO (Legal Process Outsourcing)
  • KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing)
  • MBPO (Medical Business Process Outsourcing) Etc.
  • RPO (Research Process Outsourcing)
  • Call Centers Etc.
  • Acts as a link between the government and its members and provides a platform for interaction on policy issues.
  • Taking up specific trade-related issues with the concerned government officials.
  • Acts as a link between member companies and foreign companies in the business development process.
  • Identifies prospective markets and buyers for specific products and services offered by members.
  • Organizes promotional activities by way of participation in:
    • Trade Fairs and Exhibitions
    • Buyer Seller Meets Abroad
    • Reverse Buyer Seller Meets in India
    • Catalogue Shows
  • Implements government-assisted programmes such as MAI.
  • Publicity of members’ activities and achievements through its bi-monthly magazine ELSOFTEX.
  • Providing members’ information to buyers.
  • Sharing trade enquiries and tender notifications received from all parts of the world.
  • Handholding in case of trade disputes.
  • Visa recommendation letters for business trips abroad.
